Around 500 or so individuals, including many vendors and various media, gathered at the Frankfort State Capitol for a Freedom Rally on Saturday. Patriotism was high as individuals were expressing their views as to the direction America should take. Although opinions vary as to what this direction should be, I think it is safe to say that most in attendance would agree that we cannot continue on the path we are on, and continue to be free. The fact is we are in financial bondage already and it will take some bold steps to divert us from a total collapse of our economy.
I contributed my 2 cents worth with a cardboard "Basic Protest Sign", just to say I am disgusted with all of it. Some guy walked up to me and said, "Everybody we send up there gets bought out". My reply was, "it is us who are bought out". He then proceeded with a personal sob story and how he needed the government's help. Have we forgotten that life is tough?
If we are constantly making excuses for our failure, we will never succeed at anything. As my dad says, we "do the best we can with what we have to do with". We are not promised success in America, only opportunity.
Both the left and the right want the government to do something for them. That is fine, but we have to remember that "every ounce of government could cost us a pound of liberty". The most discouraging part of it is all is that we seem willing to trade the one for the other. If we really feel that way, then let's cancel the TEAparties and I will save my gas money and cardboard.
